We are seeking a humble, committed, personable sales leader with a servant leader style who enjoys driving change and growth. This person is responsible for leading the college sales team of 25 independent and company sales representatives. Understanding what it takes to sell unique product combinations in the licensed college market (with the experience to back it up), along with a sales focus that is strongly centered on independent bookstores of all sizes, proficiency with data analytics and five or more years in sales and sales management are all desired qualifications. It would be a benefit if this manager lives near our headquarters in Minnesota (it's beautiful here); however, we will consider anyone that meets our qualifications

Essential Job Functions | Lead + Motivate + Create + Foster + Build + Drive Growth = Results

  • Work closely with Chief Licensed Business Development Officer and the Collegiate Line Development Manager to effectively prepare and execute growth plans, with specific individual leadership focus on independent school relationships and sales
  • Establish and monitor sales territories, goals and progress of reps
  • Lead and motivate reps as well as coaching them to problem solve and achieve goals
  • Develop and maintain systems to continually attract and onboard new reps
  • Collaborate on brand strategies, sales goals, line planning, operational needs and marketing initiatives
  • Create and foster relationships with reps, key buyers and store owners
  • Regularly deliver visible metrics on goals and sales progress to management team
  • Manage and grow new & existing sales funnel with reps
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape
  • Entertain customers in various social settings, such as dinners and industry events
  • Attend trade shows to develop relationships and generate new leads
  • Lead annual sales meeting

Qualifications | Sales Whiz + Big Picture Thinker + NIMBLE + Great Laugh + Proactive

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five or more years of successful sales experience building and managing customer relationships
  • Five or more years of sales management experience
  • Prior experience working with independent college bookstores preferred
  • Must love dogs (we kinda like them at our MN headquarters, and we hope you do, too)
  • Experience using technology, such as PowerPoint, Excel and Salesforce, to be organized and efficient
  • Proactive ability to anticipate needs of key accounts and ensure successful positioning
  • Welcoming of change nimble and open minded
  • Personable, friendly, energetic, humble, optimistic, and have a good sense of humor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have an ability to recognize our culture, contribute to it, and be a part of it.  Big egos, game players, "me firsts", entitled, and other such traits need not apply.  We kind of mean it J
  • Ability to travel 40-50% of the time based on needs and seasonality
